Metiocracy

I am a firm believer in, if you work hard, you can accomplish anything. There is no doubt about it. In "A Class Divided," the teacher divides these kids and makes one group feel inferior to the other and vice-versa. Though, when someone is made to feel superior things can get ugly, and this is exhibited in history with slavery in many countries. Yet, there are many "inferior" people that have risen up and gone against what anyone says, made something of themselves and done what THEY wanted to do. It's all about the way you feel, if you, yourself believe yourself to be inferior, or less of a person then, you're not going to get anywhere. On the other hand, if you believe in yourself, work hard and genuinely to do what you want, regardless of race or gender you can do it.

By looking at my results, I feel like whites do have some what of an advantage in education, though it's not that big of a difference between the other races. I think if this survey was extended and I was able to produce more results it would be more accurate. Also, I do believe that location and the area you are living in factors in to the level of education of the majority of people that have had a full highschool and/or college education.

Sexist Advertisements.

This advertisement is sexist, because The message it sends by saying "Color keyed to match you're kitchen" and the picture of the woman sitting around color swatches sends the message that all women are good for or wanted was a perfect house and kitchen. Also, the phrase "they're femineered!" also sends that message. This advertisement conveys that women were materialistic, and were only interested in their material objects being perfect.

Television does indeed have a great impact on our society today. Especially in the younger generations. Televison, Music, and Film sets the "norm" and the "trends" for our generations to follow, and a lot of the time we mimic what we see on t.v, or we want to have or do what we see. Our society is prone to wanting what others have, when we see it, we want it. This attitude that we have taken on can definitely have negative consequences

The perfect family, parents, three kids and a dog in, in the perfect house. This family was living the Ultimate American Dream. The children eagerly peer out of the window with jubilant faces on Christmas morning watching the blanket of snow make their world into a winter wonderland. They are all excited to unwrap the bundle of gifts each of them have sitting under the tree, and to go outside and play in the snow. Even the dog feels the excitement. It's the perfect Christmas.

Joseph McCarthy accused thousands of Americans of being Communists
Hollywood writers, directors, and producers were arrested. Under the accusation that there were "communist ideas/propaganda" in their films.

Communist "witch hunt" and impact on those accused:

Privacy of individuals was violated.

Many people were charged under being communists.

Space Race impact on government policies:

The Soviet Union launched Sputnik

USA feels threatened, decides to pour $ into education.

Cold War spurred from this.

Space explorations expanded, and in 1969 USA put man on the moon.

Cold War mindset for the US government and public:

USA is afraid of communism.

We had to beat the Soviet Union in technology/space exploration.

Relationship of suburbs, automobiles, and roads:

The Suburbs were outside the cities.

Therefore, cars were required to travel to jobs in the city.

The 1956 Highway Act was put into action, and millions of dollars went into building new and easier roads to travel on.

Baby Boom:

Men were coming home from war, the depression was over.

Could afford to have more children

The new norm became stay at home mothers, working fathers, 2 children and more than one car

Urban-Suburban pattern:
Inner City : low income families
Suburbs : middle income families
Moving out of the Suburbs : high income families (more land etc)

GI Bill:

Supported veterans, provided them with education.

Gave loans and 1 yr. compensation

Expansion of the middle class (why things were affordable):

CREDIT CARDS!(more spending)

Men were working.

Development of the suburbs, track homes that were cheap.
