"Back when I was younger... we only had letters."

Well Aunt Jean, there is one person who will miss you on Christmas day and he is sitting in a digout wondering what you are all doing and wishing you the best of Christmasses and the happiest year of all.
Loving ????(Sean or Sam)

That is a letter from one of the soldiers. This is upsetting, because this soldier had to write a letter, and didn't even have the option to hear his families voice on christmas.
We are lucky today to have instant forms of communication, computer, text messaging, phone calls, letters, webcam etc. These soldiers only had letters... they were probably frustrated, because they had to wait to hear back, and it would've taken sometime for their letters to reach their loved one's. This is a difficult struggle from both sides, because they each are waiting, anticipating eachothers response. Not knowing whether someones dead is terrible. Today we wouldn't be able to live a day without our iPhones, or blackberries. Imagine how grateful these soldiers would be to have Facetime, or BlackBerryMessenger!
